Recycle Used Print Cartridges
When you’re talking about saving the world, most people immediately think of a superhero like Superman or Spiderman. But the average person can do his or her part to save the world simply by doing little things. A lot of little things actually work to make the world a better place, and if you put a few eco-friendly things into place in your daily life, you’ll actually be helping to save the universe without even having to wear a cape or tights! One of the things that you can do that can help save the world is to learn how to recycle, and one of the things you probably use on a regular basis that can be recycled is printer cartridges.
Using Printer Cartridges
How often do you find yourself replacing your printer cartridges? If you’re someone that uses their printer often, then you probably replace your cartridges fairly frequently. While some families can go four or five months without replacing their cartridges, many others need to replace the printer cartridges that they use at least once every couple of months. Businesses often find they need to replace cartridges at least once a month, especially if they’re a small establishment using ink cartridges and inkjet printers instead of commercial printers that use toner. What do you do with the cartridges that you’re done with? Do you throw them into the trash? The average person does dispose of their old ink cartridges without thinking about the impact they’re having on the environment.
Ink cartridges are made out of plastic, and studies have shown that plastic definitely doesn’t break down when it’s in a landfill. That’s why so many people advocate for recycling things like plastic soda bottles. When you recycle these things you’re helping the environment, and you’re getting money back as well. The same is true of recycling ink cartridges! When you recycle ink cartridges you’re also helping the environment and, if you do it right, you can earn some cash back as well.
How to Start
How do you start recycling your ink cartridges? First, you have to find a place to send them. There are a number of companies online that buy old ink cartridges. They actually reuse the cartridges! Some melt them down and use them in other products, but the average company actually takes the old ink cartridges and refills them. These recycled cartridges are sold at a lower price than a new cartridge. This not only means that you’re saving three ways—you’re doing your part to save the environment; you’re making money when you sell your old cartridge; and you’re saving money when you purchase a recycled cartridge.
In order to find the right company, you may want to do a little research. All recycling companies are not created equally, and while some companies are honorable, others are not. Some companies are great at making sure that they use the recycled cartridges properly and that you get your money’s worth; while others aren’t quite as reliable. So how do you find the right store? It’s actually easy; all you have to do is spend some time researching their history. There are many ways that you can check a company out, such as:asking friends and family who they use when they recycle their ink cartridges; checking with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints about the company, or checking online blogs and chat rooms to see what consumers are saying. You’ll quickly be able to tell which companies can be trusedt and which ones should be avoided.
Contact the company you select, and let them know that you have some cartridges to recycle. You may want to wait until you have several cartridges to recycle so that you’re able to realize a better refund. The company will send you a package to ship the empty cartridges in and they will also provide shipping instructions .. Then simply put the cartridges in the package and send it out. When the company receives the package, they will track your items and issue a refund or give you credit toward future purchases from their store. (Note: some companies only send checks once the customer accumulates a minimum balance.) Either way, you’ve made an environmentally sound decision to recycle, and have earned yourself some money as well.
Once the financials are taken care of, the company then cleans out the cartridges and refills them, to resell them later. Recycling is a very simple process which only takes a few minutes of your time. And not only can you feel good about helping the environment, but you can also enjoy the warm feeling you get from helping people save money. If you’re interested in recycling your ink cartridges, find a great company to use and contact them as soon as you have a few cartridges that are ready to be recycled.
