Basic Gravy

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 small Vidalia onion, minced
  • 5 small mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon butter or margarine
  • flour
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 cup milk or rice milk
  • salt & pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Start by sautéing onion, garlic and mushroom in butter until onions are translucent.

2.  Add flour, about a Tablespoon at a time and whisk well to absorb.

3.  Add vegetable broth and stir well.

4.  When mixture boils, add milk and stir to avoid lumps.

5.  Allow to boil for 5 minutes or more, stirring constantly, until desired thickness is reached.

6.  Add salt & pepper to taste.

7.  Serve and enjoy!
