How To Entertain Your Baby With Green Toys

Babies are an endless fascination to us. We often wonder what our children are thinking, or why they’re doing whatever it is they’re doing. However, we’re not always an endless fascination for babies, as they tend to need a great deal of stimulation, and the older they grow, the more stimulation they need. This is fun for new parents, who see a baby sleeping much of the time when they are newborns and who often automatically assume that this is how the baby is going to be for a very long time. This, however, is a huge misconception, as children who grow need more and more stimulation. If your child is looking to be stimulated, you can do so using a variety of different types of green or eco-friendly toys.

Newborns

Newborns need the smallest amount of stimulation than any other type of baby. They spend most of their time eating, sleeping, and voiding, simply because their bodies are growing at such a rapid rate.  There are hours when they’re awake, even though they may be few and far between. During these hours, it’s easy for a parent to lose themselves in their baby’s eyes and to enjoy counting their fingers and toes and kissing them on the head.  Even at this age, you can play with your baby with green toys. One of the best types of toys for a young baby is stuffed toys.

Stuffed toys can give them something to try to grab onto, and are soft to touch when, and if, they do manage to get a hold of the toy. You can rub the toy on their cheeks and on their hands and belly for a sensory experience. Just make sure that any green stuffed animal you purchase for your child doesn’t have any parts on it that can easily come off. Avoid things like button eyes, for instance, and stick with solid stuffed animals that are made especially for newborns.

Three to Six Months

A baby going through these months starts to become more aware of the world around them, but they can’t do a lot yet. They may be slowly learning how to sit up and they will likely be able to raise their heads. You can absolutely have fun playing with children who are this age. Set them up on the floor and give them what is called “tummy time.” This actually works the muscles in their body and helps them to get ready to sit up. Pull out their favorite stuffed animals and do a little show for them! By this age, they should be able to attempt to grab at the organic stuffed animal and will likely try to stuff a part of it in their mouth, so make sure that the organic animal is clean and, once again, free from any tiny parts.

Six to Nine Months

During this age, you finally realize what you’ve gotten yourself into with your baby. Babies that are this age are becoming mobile, usually by learning how to stand and by crawling, and can sit up unassisted for quite a long time. When this happens, it’s time to seek out some green toys that can keep them entertained, like stacking toys. Children love stacking toys because they can not only build them up, but they can knock them down. You, of course, will likely be the one doing all of the stacking, but they’ll definitely try to help and will love it when you knock them down. You can even pull out some dishes and can let baby play with them while they’re empty, as it also helps them to learn how to eat on their own!

Nine to Twelve Months

If your child is one of the many who learns how to walk before their first birthday, you’re going to have your hands full! The more entertained you keep a child of this age, the longer they’ll sit still, and the less time you’ll have to spend running after them and keeping them out of things. There are many different types of organic toys that you can purchase for young children who are this age, including the things that they liked when they were younger, like stacking toys and stuffed animals. You can also get into blocks and other pretend-play toys, like boats and cars. There are a number of organic toy designers and manufacturers whose toys not only stimulate your baby to learn but have been made using organic and natural materials as well.  Many people believe that natural toys are the best option for babies.  There should be nothing synthetic on the toy that could accidentally harm your baby, either through use or from any substance that was used to make the toy.

All of these toys are great fun to sit down and play with together with your child, and it also helps to strengthen the bond between the two of you. Remember, even if it seems boring to you, if you’re getting a reaction from your child, particularly one of joy or interest, keep up the play time!
