How To Find a Natural Remedy for Constipation

Have you ever had to walk around feeling very…uncomfortable? One of the most common gastrointestinal ailments that most people have is constipation. Being constipated can leave you feeling uncomfortable and you can end up spending far more time in the bathroom than you ever wanted to spend.  Many people avoid talking about constipation, or any sort of bowel movements, as it’s one of those “taboo” subjects that we’re raised to only discuss with our doctors. So how do you know if you really are constipated? One way to tell is to see how hard your stools are and how often you go. Doctors agree that if you have hard, dry stools and you’re going less than three times a week, you’re likely very constipated. If you feel bloated and uncomfortable along with the infrequent stools, you’re definitely constipated.  What can you do about it?

Changing Your Diet

The first thing that any doctor will tell you to do if you complain about constipation is to change your diet. While there are medical reasons why someone would be constipated, such as a medication actually causing the constipation, most people suffer from constipation because they are not eating a healthy, well-balanced diet. When you know that you’re constipated, it’s time to try changing what you eat.. Start by eating a diet that is high in fiber. Fiber can be found in things like whole grains, vegetables, and fruit.

You can easily add more fiber into your diet simply by switching a few things. Don’t eat white bread, for instance, but eat wheat bread. Instead of eating regular pasta, try wheat pasta, and eat brown rice instead of white rice. You can add some prunes into your breakfast or even some figs. If you don’t like prunes or figs, try purchasing some flaxseeds and sprinkling them over your morning oatmeal. These types of seeds have a nutty taste and can greatly help someone who is dealing with constipation.

You also need to make sure that you’re getting enough fluids into your body. Too few fluids will definitely leave a person constipated. Try to drink a cup of water with every meal, and avoid drinking caffeinated beverages. Soda and coffee can be dehydrating and can cause a person to be experience that condition. If you’re dehydrated, the body has a much more difficult time processing the waste, which can lead to constipation. So always make sure that you drink as many fluids as you can during the day. Drinking fluids on a regular basis can help you to get into a routine so that you don’t forget to have the amount of fluids that you need every day.

Treating Constipation

If changing your diet hasn’t worked, or you need relief faster than a diet change can allow, you may want to look at some stimulant laxatives. There are many laxatives that you can buy which are actually herbal laxatives, and some have a combination of different herbs inside of them. One such herb is senna. Senna is very gentle and can even be found in constipation medication for children. It’s been approved as an over-the-counter treatment for people who are suffering from constipation but should only be used for a week or less, as a person can become dependent on using these types of herbs to have a bowel movement.

Another option, if you’re suffering from constipation, is probiotics. Probiotics are actually a microbial organism that is found in your digestive tract. Studies are showing now that people who have certain issues, such as constipation, can be helped by taking something that has probiotics in it. You can find a few different products that boast of having probiotics in them, such as yogurts or milk. Probiotics are actually a great option for children who have constipation, as it’s not a medication and is something that you already have in your body, meaning that it’s definitely safe.

Another option that most people have not heard of is called biofeedback therapy. This type of therapy works on teaching a person how to use the muscles in their body more effectively, in order to push the waste out of the body. One study that was done on biofeedback showed that people who used it, and who were educated, had more success in helping their constipation than those who were just using laxatives. This study made a huge impact on the medical society.

Constipation doesn’t have to be suffered, especially since there are many easy ways that you can get rid of it using natural means. If you’re suffering from constipation, try some of these methods to care for the problem, and if that doesn’t work, make sure that you see your doctor as soon as possible to rule out any serious issues.

How To Find a Natural Remedy for Burns

No one likes to deal with a burn, but the simple fact of life is that we all eventually have to deal with having one. Ever since the first cave man came across the first fire, we’ve all had to deal with the possibility of getting burned. Fire and heat make our homes comfortable, and cooks our food for us, but it can also backfire and can cause a person to become seriously injured. If you’ve got a very serious burn, you should absolutely go to the closest emergency room to be treated. If, however, you have a minor burn, you should be able to treat the burn yourself, in your own home.

Types of Burns

There are a few different types of burns, and what type of burn you have designates how you can treat it.. The first type of burn is a first-degree burn. This type of burn only damages the outer layer of the skin. It’s like the type of burn that you’d get if you were grabbing something out of a hot pan, and you held your hand there a second too long. It stings, but it likely doesn’t require a trip to the emergency room in order to treat it.

A second degree burn is a bit more serious. This type of burn damages the skin that is on the very outer layer of your body as well as a layer underneath that. This type of burn can be received in a variety of ways, such as if you were putting wood in a wood stove and your arm seared the top of the stove for a few seconds. It’s a very painful type of burn and it could require emergency medical care if it was bordering on a third degree burn. Many times you can treat a second degree burn at home, but it is going to take much more care than a first degree burn to get the skin completely healed, and you may have to deal with scarring as well.

A third degree burn is the most serious type of burn that you can get. This burn damages the outer layer of skin, the layer under that, and finally damages the bottom layer and tissues that are deeply imbedded in the skin as well. It can cause swelling, blistering, and serious scarring.  If the third degree burn is over a large portion of your body, it can even cause death, due to the fact that a serious burn leaves the skin unable to protect you from germs and invaders, and you can easily get an infection.

There are many things that can cause burns. Some of them are avoidable, such as electric burns which can be avoided if you make sure that you turn off the electricity before you do anything around it, and sunburns, which can be avoided if you stay out of the sun and wear protective sun clothing and sun block.  There are some burns which are obtained through accidents that, no matter how careful you are, just happen.

What to Do

So what do you do if you get a burn? The first thing that you should do is to immediately seek out water and wash the burn. Cool running water is the best type of water to put over the burn, and if you’re not near a tap, try slowly pouring a bottle of water over the burn. If you have no other option, dunk the burned area into standing water, but running water is better as it cleans out the burn much faster than standing water does.

If the burn looks serious, and you’ve got blistering and peeling already, seek out medical assistance, as you may have a serious second or third degree burn. Once you’ve cooled down the burn, it’s time to start treating it (if it’s not too serious to treat on your own). Start by getting rid of some of the pain – take pain medication before you treat so that you can more thoroughly treat the burn without having to deal with too much pain.

Aloe Vera

Many people swear by the Aloe Vera plant. An Aloe Vera plant is a great option for someone who has a burn, as you simply have to slice off a small piece of the leaf and to put the sap from the leaf directly onto the burn. It has a natural astringent in it, and the healing properties of Aloe Vera are ideal for burns. If you don’t have an Aloe plant in your home, try using honey to heal the burn. Researchers have found that smearing honey over the burn can help to make the burn heal much faster. Diluted vinegar is also a great burn treatment as well.

A variety of natural remedies can aid in the treatment of a burn.  Realize, however, that a burn can be a very serious problem and if you have any concerns at all about its severity, it’s best to seek out the help of a medical professional.

How To Find a Natural Remedy for Body Odor

If you’re someone who likes to travel the world, then you may have gone to a place where it seems like everyone smells. You may stop to wonder if the country has ever learned about deodorant or even just soap, but then you learn that in these places, having body odor is actually a good thing. These people believe that if you have a strong body odor, it shows that you have a great sexual prowess, and that you’re a strong person. In America, however, body odor is never a good thing, and many of us spend plenty of time discreetly sniffing ourselves to figure out if we’re smelly or not.

What Is Body Odor?

Where does body odor come from? You’re a person who washes themselves daily and who takes care of themselves, so why would your body ever start to smell? Body odor comes from sweat, which is something that’s easy to see if you’ve ever gone into the locker room of a gym. Did you know that there are two different types of sweat glands in the body? Both types make sweat, which is actually made up of water, but one type of sweat smells really badly and the other one not so much.

The eccrine glands that make up sweat are all over your body, and they make the sweat that cools you down. When you’re really hot because you’re working, or simply because someone has the thermostat turned up too high, you can start to sweat. The sweating actually cools the skin down. It’s just like when you’re very hot and you jump into the lake to cool off. Sweat is actually cool so it cools the skin down. While there is a slight scent from the sweat that comes from the eccrine glands, this type of sweat doesn’t smell too horribly.

The sweat that does smell is the sweat that comes from the apocrine glands. The apocrine glands sweat out moisture that actually contains oil, and if there’s one thing that loves oil, its bacteria. So when you start to sweat from the apocrine glands, the bacteria smells the oil and starts to jump on the sweat, which causes the smell. While no one is quite sure why the apocrine glands even make sweat, we do know that they’re located in the groin area, around the nipples, and in the armpits, which is why deodorant is such a wonderful invention.

Getting Rid of the Smell

So you have odors – now how do you get rid of the smell? There are a number of things that you can do naturally that can help you to get rid of the smell. First, wash your clothing really well. Sweat gets into clothing and can make the clothing smell, especially if it manages to dry with some of the bacteria on it. Make sure that all of your socks, underwear, and all other pieces of clothing are extremely clean before you put them on. Cotton is a great material to wear because it absorbs sweat and helps to let air flow through your body, getting rid of the stench of sweat.

Deodorant is, of course, a great way to get rid of body odor, and if you don’t want to use commercial deodorant, you can always make your own. Baking soda is a great agent to use if you’re trying to get rid of underarm sweat. Simply rub some baking soda under your armpits and the acid is naturally neutralized. Some people even mix baking soda with other items, such as apple cider vinegar, to create a paste that they use to get rid of unpleasant underarm smells. You can even use tea tree oil. Mix an ounce of water with three drops of tea tree oil and use a cotton ball to put it on your underarms.

Your diet can also play a part in how you smell. There are many foods which affect the amount of sweat a person makes, such as pungent foods like garlic and onions. Hot foods, like hot peppers, can actually make you produce more sweat, and it tends to be very smelly sweat. Try eating more fruits and incorporating them into your daily diet, as this will help the sweat to not smell as bad as it could.  You can even add ginger and licorice to your diet. These herbs actually have antibacterials in them, which makes the bacteria go away much faster. Goldenseal is another herb that you can use to get rid of a smell; this herb goes into the intestines to kill bacteria there, which can actually get rid of some of your body odors.  Also soaking in Epsom salt for twenty minutes a day can help to reduce body odor, and sweat production, as well.

There are a variety of natural methods you can use to eliminate body odors and smells.  The ideas mentioned above are a few that could be beneficial.

How To Find a Natural Remedy for Athlete’s Foot

It’s not embarrassing to have a cold or to cough when you’re around people. It’s not embarrassing to have asthma or arthritis.  However, there are many medical conditions that can be deemed embarrassing, such as athlete’s foot. There are a number of reasons why athlete’s foot is so embarrassing to have, but the main one is because having it makes you seem like you’re dirty. Even though getting athlete’s foot has nothing to do with being an unkempt person, the look of it can make people assume that you are someone who doesn’t take care of yourself..

What exactly is athlete’s foot? Athlete’s foot is actually a fungal infection that is found on the skin of the bottom of the foot. How can you tell if you have athlete’s foot? The infection actually makes itself well known by causing flaking and scaling on the foot. The bottom of the foot may itch like crazy and may also become inflamed.  Not only can athlete’s foot make your foot feel terrible, it can spread to other parts of the body. Some people have athlete’s foot spread to their groin, at which case it is called a different name, like tinea cruris, or jock itch. That’s why, if you think you have athlete’s foot, it is important that you treat it as soon as you can, so that you can avoid having it spread to other areas of the body that may become extremely uncomfortable when infected.

How You Get It

The reason why getting athlete’s foot has nothing to do with how dirty or clean you are is because it’s actually a communicable disease. This means that it can be passed from person to person very easily. Like many funguses, the athlete’s foot fungus thrives when it is in moist, dark environments, which is why so many people transmit it to others in showers and locker rooms. Those who walk barefoot drop little bits of the fungus on the floor where it can thrive for quite some time. Then, when someone else walks over the same spot, the fungus can transfer to the person’s foot and can then go on to infect the skin on the bottom of the foot. You can also catch athlete’s foot by sharing shoes with someone who has athlete’s foot.

Treating It

Once you’ve got athlete’s foot, you quickly start to do everything that you can to hide it from people.  It not only looks gross but can actually alienate people from you, as they tend to think that it is something that you get simply from being unclean. So how do you treat the condition? There are a number of things that you can do. If you’re not worried about getting a natural remedy, you can purchase a fungicide at your local drugstore. Fungicides are not horribly bad for the environment, and they may be able to clear up the condition fairly quickly. Also there are other, more natural things that you can do as well.

To start with, keep your foot clean! A dirty foot is something that foot fungus loves, and if you have athlete’s foot, you can’t just wash your foot once a day, but you should wash it several times a day. Use a bathing brush to get rid of dead skin and clean between the toes as well as you can, as there’s nothing more that this fungus likes than to be able to crawl between your toes and to stay there. You can even use a toothpick to get rid of the stuff in between your toenails, which can also be fungus. Make sure that you thoroughly wash your hands after you’ve touched your feet.

Once your feet are washed, they need to be dried, and not just the “dry my feet on the mat” dry, but really dry. Every time you get out of the shower or the bath you need to make sure that you thoroughly dry your feet. Use a clean towel to dry them or you can even use the blow dryer. Turn it on low and get some warm heat on there and your feet will be drier than they could ever get from a towel. This way you won’t have to worry that you’re spreading the fungus to anyone else in your household either.

Finally, always, always wear clean socks and shoes when you have athlete’s foot. Make sure you change your socks at least two to three times a day and that you never go barefoot in places where others walk, including your home and even in your bed. This not only helps to get rid of your fungal problem, but also prevents you from passing it on to anyone else that lives with you or comes to visit you.

How To Find a Natural Remedy for Asthma

Imagine that you’re standing there, laughing and enjoying yourself with your friends, when suddenly you start to feel like it’s getting more and more difficult to breathe. You take a breath, and another, and you feel like your whole throat is closing up. Before you know it, you’re panting and wheezing and it takes everything in you to simply catch a breath. That is what people who suffer from asthma go through whenever they have an asthma attack. Some people have asthma attacks on a regular basis, while others only suffer from asthma attacks once in a great while. Either way, an asthma attack is nothing to be nonchalant about, as having one could mean risking your life.

What Is Asthma

There are many things that scientists still don’t understand, and asthma is one of them. Asthma is a condition that is thought to be a combination between hereditary and environmental factors, but doctors still aren’t sure why some people who are predisposed to the condition get it and why others do not.. What we do know is that when someone suffers from an asthma attack, their airway starts to close. The person who is suffering from asthma will likely feel like they’re having a difficult time catching a breath, which is called shortness of breath, and they may wheeze or cough. Some people who have asthma only have a very small amount of symptoms, while others who have the condition find that their airways will completely close up if they don’t get an inhaler as soon as they start to have an attack.

Natural Remedies

People who have chronic or long-term asthma issues often look for natural remedies hoping that they’ll be able to find some relief. There have been many studies which show that some medications, when used long-term, are actually very bad for the body, which is why natural remedies are so highly sought after.  Natural remedies can actually help more than you may believe. If one stops to think about it, natural remedies have been used for hundreds of years to help people who were suffering, and since our race has not only survived but thrived, then obviously there is something about natural remedies which work well.

What kind of natural remedies can you look for to help you with your asthma problems? One thing to look at is acupuncture. Acupuncture uses pressure points or needles to help get rid of some of the symptoms of asthma. Acupuncture experts will tell you that when the needles are applied properly, by someone who knows what they’re doing, they can truly help to relieve the symptoms of asthma from a person who is suffering from it.  They can also improve lung function. There are no conclusive studies that prove that it can help, but many asthma sufferers decide to give it a try because they realize that they really can’t do their body much harm by having small needles inserted.

Some say that being on a specific type of diet helps them to deal with their asthma. The diet is actually one that restricts dairy products, and many people say that restricting dairy products has helped them to deal with the symptoms that they have, although, again, there are no conclusive studies that prove that it work.  Since you are only changing your diet, and not in a harmful way, it is something that can’t hurt to try, and it may actually help a great deal.

Yoga is another way to help you to get rid of the symptoms of your asthma. Stress can definitely trigger asthma attacks, and learning how to deal with the stress means that you may be able to avoid having some of the attacks that every asthma sufferer dreads having. Yoga is a great way to do that, as it teaches you breathing exercises that can help you to relieve your stress. The exercises may also strengthen the lungs and may help those who have asthma to lessen their symptoms when they do have an asthma attack.

There are, of course, many dietary supplements that you can take in order to help get rid of the symptoms of asthma. However, it is important to remember that you should always speak with your doctor before you introduce any new supplements to ensure that it does not counteract with your current medications. Herbal supplements, like grapeseed, butterbur, katuka, and boswellia have all been shown to give someone who is suffering from asthma some improvement in their symptoms. You can find these types of herbal supplements at any health food store or online. There are ways to treat asthma naturally, but you should also have an inhaler handy, just in case you have a serious asthma attack.
